Before an official announcement later today, the Western release date for Persona 5 Royal seems to have leaked online. It seems that we will regroup with the Phantom Thieves next year on March 31, 2020.
Filtering online through ResetEra was not only the release date, but also a Phantom Thieves edition of the JRPG. The Phantom Thieves edition presents the game in a steel book, a Joker mask, the soundtrack of an album and an art book, but the price has not yet been set.
We have asked Atlus for comments.
Persona 5 Royal is a very expanded edition of the original 2017 game. After the adventures of the misfits of high school in Tokyo while trying to reform a corrupt society, the improved edition that will be released next year will feature two new characters, one of which will be put on a mask and join the Phantom Thieves, a full third quarter of the school, new animations of battles and conversations, and more improvements.
Persona 5 Royal will not be the only Persona game to be released in 2020. Persona 5 Scramble, a spin-off hack-and-slash game by Koei Tecmo and Atlus, will be released for PS4 and Switch later in 2020, starring Phantom Thieves hacking and breaking through hordes of monsters in a dark Tokyo.
