Aashiqui 2 is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language romantic musical drama film directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. The film is a sequel to the 2000 film Aashiqui starring Shahrukh Khan, which was commercially successful. It stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kuthe in the lead roles with music composed by Pritam with lyrics written by Kausar Munir. The film released worldwide on 19 November 2013 to mixed reviews, but managed a decent response at the box office. The film features original soundtrack and background score composed by Pritam.
The film begins with Aditya Roy Kapoor as Mohan Mehra, a young man who is an aspiring singer and music composer. He frequently participates in technical, classical singing competitions and performs hard to achieve first place every time, but without success. In one such competition, held at his college, he meets Nandini aka Anu (Shraddha Kapoor). She is a traditional Marathi girl and studies Arts at the same college. During the same competition he gives a presentation on the history of music along with classical singing, during which he describes how people used to love music years ago, but now prefer corrupt things like alcohol and drugs.
Aashiqui 2 Story line:
Shreya and Mohan’s story continues as they now both follow their hearts. But, when their hearts lead them towards different directions, it becomes very difficult for them to move on with their lives. A tragedy takes place in the life of Mohan when his family is forced to move away from the city due to several reasons and he becomes separated from his best friend Aditya.
Mohan’s father wants him to take up a job which is financially less demanding than pursuing music as a full-time profession, but an interim solution comes in between as Mohan gets to work with Aditya and his friends over the Internet. He is also able to perform with Aditya and his friends over the Internet. However, further problems arise when Mohan finally gets a job offer in London.
Aashiqui 2’s story takes a new turn as Mohan decides to leave India but starts to miss Nandini badly. He even goes back to Mumbai before leaving for London and stays at his friend’s house only to realise that Nandini was the love of his life and he can’t live without her at any cost. Mohan tries hard to convince Nandini that what she had earlier considered wrong was actually real love.
