Disney is on the verge of releasing a new film, and this time it’s a prequel to the famous story of Beauty and the Beast. The movie is titled “Beauty and the Beast,” but some fans are calling it “Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas.”

Disney’s hit blockbuster Beauty and the Beast has inspired a forthcoming series, but there will be a bit of a wait until it hits TV screens.
Executives at the entertainment company have ordered production of a prequel series, with shooting expected to get underway on the eight episodes in spring 2022.
It means fans of Beauty and the Beast will get to see a major storyline that is set before the 2017 adaptation.
“You’re going to have to tune in when this show airs to see what we’re working up, but in the process of working on it, we’re asking ourselves every relevant question about these characters and endeavoring to do right by them and by this world,” Gad says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “I think that we have origin stories here that are unbelievably exciting because they’re unexpected. And I think ‘expect the unexpected is all I can really say. And not just with regard to LeFou and Gaston but to a lot of the new characters that we’re introducing.”
When will Beauty and the Beast Prequel be on Disney?
Production on this series is set to begin in spring 2022. It will premiere on Disney Plus.
The Beauty and the Beast prequel isn’t set for filming until spring 2022, so it will be sometime after that when it will be available on Disney Plus for Disney Plus subscribers.

Who will be Starring in Beauty and the Beast Prequel?
One of the main characters, Gaston, will be played by Luke Evans. He’s reprising his role after originally playing the character in the main movie.
Luke has appeared in a number of TV shows, and most recently appeared in ITV’s The Pembrokeshire Murders.
Prior to this, in 2014, he starred as Dracula in the film, Dracula Untold.
Another of the main characters, LeFou, will be played by Josh Gad. He, too, is reprising his role after originally playing the character in the main movie.

In the various tellings of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Gaston is a chauvinistic hunter who wants to forcibly marry Belle simply because she is the most beautiful girl in the village. He hates reading and independent women and would rather flex his muscles in the local tavern than put effort into actually understanding the object of his desire. Critics liked the series, but they also think that it is a little too similar to A Beauty and the Beast.
Some critics thought there were some missed opportunities in exploring Belle’s life beyond her time with Beast.
“It’s not enough of its own thing,” according to Joanna Robinson (Vanity Fair). “I would say [the show] deserves credit for trying something different — at least we know how this one will end — but it feels like an obligation more than anything else.”
