The spinoff will revolve around the Stabler-led New York police organized crime unit and is produced by Wolf, Arthur W. Forney, and Peter Jankowski for Wolf Entertainment and Universal TV. Chicago P.D. Showrunner Matt Olmstead is being considered as a writer / showrunner for the project.
With the series set in New York, the possibilities are endless for possible crossings between Law and order: SVU, starring Mariska Hargitay, and a meeting between Stabler and Olivia Benson of Hargitay.
Meloni played the male lead opposite Hargitay during the first 12 seasons of Law and order: SVU. The actor earned an Emmy nomination in 2006 for the role.
