Plot details:
The show revolves around two people who share an inexplicable bond after they are brought together by extraordinary circumstances. They can sense each other’s thoughts and feelings, including those from past lives in which they were lovers.

This is a departure from previous seasons that have been written as more episodic and open to interpretation by the viewer due to a lack of explanation for how Kevin can know what Fiona is thinking in any given moment or situation, even when she’s not with him at all.
In departure season three episode four, we see that there are many different ways to live one’s life. Just because someone is not “succeeding” according to the world’s standards does not mean that they are any less of a person.
In departure season three episode five we see how an old friend returns, and in his absence Fiona has created her own family with Kevin as its head. The challenge now is for this new family to find a way to become one, even without the help of old friends.
In episode six, we see how Fiona is struggling with her new life and responsibility while Kevin laments his past decisions. The result is that they both lose sight of their friendship until it becomes too difficult not only for them but for those around them.
In episode seven, we see how Fiona and Kevin have to find a way to work together not only for the sake of their children but also for themselves. The results are mixed as they both begin building new lives with other people while still trying to maintain some semblance of what was.
What’s new in season three?
Kevin and Fiona are now married with children. Now that they’re back in the States, it becomes evident that though they may have changed physically – both having aged since we last saw them – their relationship is as complicated and messy as ever.
In departure season three, after six years of living in Australia with their kids, Kevin and Fiona return to Boston. The first series followed them as they navigated life back home together for the first time since college: making new friends (and enemies), reconnecting with old friends, getting into a new romance, and confronting issues from their past.
The departure season three will continue to follow Kevin and Fiona as they try living under the same roof again in Boston while pursuing different careers – he for “The New York Times” and she for online travel startup that’s going public.
