My Drop is a program that allows one to transmit and retrieve files at speeds much faster than Bluetooth or even traditional WiFi. Furthermore, we can move files from one terminal to another using My Drop, regardless of the model or Android version of the other terminal. That is to say, and even though Xiaomi created the software, it is compatible with any terminal. We can submit all sorts of files using My Drop, including photos, songs, images, apps, and files. First, we have to pick the file or files we want to upload and wait for our recipient to determine whether to download them. I will complete the procedure in a matter of seconds.
My Drop is an app that allows us to move large files quickly between Android devices of various types. However, all that is required is that the program is mounted on all terminals involved in the transition.
Here is the procedure for it.
Step 1
If Mi Drop isn’t already pre-installed on your smartphone, go to the Google Play Store and download it. It should come pre-installed on most Xiaomi phones running MIUI 9 or higher.
Step 2
Connect your handset to the same WiFi network as your PC or laptop. Mi Drop uses WiFi Direct for data sharing, which allows both the host and destination devices to be linked to the same network.
Step 3
On your mobile, open the Mi Drop button. On the next page, tap Connect to Computer, then click Start. Feel free to fiddle with the settings and fine-tune them to your preferences. You can also set Mi Drop to prompt you for a password each time you use it.
Step 4
Depending on whether you choose to back up, choose one or more of the choices offered.
Step 5
Make a note of the FTP address that appears on the computer. It is required to start the data transfer between your mobile and PC.
Step 6
By clicking the ‘Windows’ and ‘E’ keys on your keyboard simultaneously, you can open a Windows Explorer tab on your computer. Alternatively, you can achieve the same result by opening every existing folder on your PC/Laptop.
Step 7
In the Windows Explorer address bar at the top of the page, type the FTP address. The contents of your phone will be seen now on your laptop.
Step 8
Choose the files you want to save to your computer. Then, you can move it freely between your phone and PC using a USB link.
Step 9
Once the data transfer is complete, press the Stop button on the mobile app.
Bottom line
Mi Drop helps move tiny amounts of data between channels, such as a movie on your tablet that you want to watch on a bigger screen. Although WiFi direct isn’t quite as fast as USB, it is far superior to Bluetooth.
