The social networking giant is going to help small businesses to grow to reach the global economy, Facebook is planning to train five million people with digital skills in 3 years, a top company executive revealed to Times of India on Saturday.
With 10 on-going programs in action, Facebook has trained already 1 million people across 150 cities and 48,000 villages with the support from 50 partners, the social networking giant said on the inaugural day of 2-day Facebook community boost program which aims to help the small businesses to reach a level in digital skills.
“We have a good network with the local partners and a very strong framework of a partnership with state governments,” said Ankhi das, a member of the company who acts as a Public Policy director in India, south and central Asia. He also conveyed the message that the company also works closely with the ministry of skill development and Entrepreneurship on digital training.
“We are very much excited that our programs such as BoostYourBusiness, Shemeansbuisiness, that are run in partnership with central and state government along with civil society and private institutions, focus on facilitating economic transformation and popularizing of small businesses at the grassroot level into the formal economy,” she added.
The Facebook training program incorporates simple lessons that help to build a digital presence and avoids the expensive fees for making or hosting websites. It also helps to gain market access by learning to market their products globally to more than 2 billion people who use Facebook for various purposes.
The training programs for India will also help learn how to use photo-sharing app Instagram which is owned by Facebook, Das added.
The training modules for these businesses in digital marketing platform and online safety developed by Facebook are available in 14 different local languages and the social networking Tech giant said that the programs have reached to already 29 states in India, including Maharashtra, Gujrat, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Punjab, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan among others.
In addition, facebook jobs products enable businesses to post the job listings and empowers youth to find the jobs even in remote geographics.
From a recent survey conducted on SMBs, it was found that more than 80 per cent of SMBs (small and medium businesses) had increased their sales by using Facebook to access with the local and global market.
