It’s been a few months since Harley Quinn was in the spotlight, but she is back now with her first standalone film! Harley Quinn has always been one of Batman’s most popular characters and this new movie will be the first time that Harley Quinn is portrayed on screen by someone other than Margot Robbie. Harley Quinn was originally created for DC Comics as an antagonist to Batman, but soon became one of his closest allies.
This upcoming Harley-Quinn-centric film will show her origin story and how Harley eventually became friends with The Joker. Harley’s jester costume is an iconic part of Harley and the film will also include her signature bat, which she has had a love/hate relationship for years. Harley Quinn director Glenn Ficarra said, “Harley is definitely on this quest to be taken seriously as more than just another man’s plaything.”
Harley Quinn will show Harley’s evolution from a sidekick to one of the best DC villains.
“I think Harley is always, for some people, going to be that hectic fun girlfriend who’s really into you and loves being with you all the time,” said Margot Robbie in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about Harley Quinn playing Harley Quinn. Harley’s personality and humour are what people love about Harley!

Review
Harley Quinn will be getting her own solo film as part of the DC Extended Universe, with Margot Robbie reprising her role from Suicide Squad.
Harley’s origin is depicted on the Gotham television series where she is a psychiatrist who falls in love with the Joker while treating him. She gradually becomes his henchwoman and lover, helping him escape from Arkham Asylum several times, as well as assisting in his criminal activities.
Harley is depicted on television to be both an anti-heroine and occasional antagonist of Batman’s, who occasionally aids the Dark Knight against some of Gotham City’s other villains. Harley has her own live-action series Harley Quinn, which premiered on the streaming service DC Universe.
Harley’s solo film will serve as an origin story of Harley and Joker’s relationship in a similar style to that of The Dark Knight and Batman Begins (2005). As such, it is intended more for mature audiences than any other previous DCEU film.
She will be played by Margot Robbie and the film also stars Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker, Robert De Niro as a talk show host who is instrumental to Harley’s origin story, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has confirmed he’ll have an important role in Harley’s solo movie. She was written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the writers of I Love You Phillip Morris and Crazy Stupid Love.
Harley Quinn will be the first Harley Quinn solo movie, although she has had a co-starring role in Suicide Squad. Harley Quinn is a popular character, and it made sense to give Harley her own movie.
