Idris Elba has been confirmed to be playing the villainous Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, according to a tweet from Idris Elba himself. Idris is no stranger to voice acting in video games, as he played Chief Bogo in The Lion King and Scar in The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. Idris also voiced Rafiki for Disney’s reboot of The Lion King and will be voicing Shere Khan for Disney’s new Jungle Book film coming out next year.

We thought the first Sonic the Hedgehog would be bad. After we saw a bad trailer, we were sure it would be really bad. But that was not true. It is strange because it was one of the best movies in Hollywood in recent memory. The movie turned out to be good and made a lot of money. This movie was one of the last movies before the pandemic shut down theaters. The series will probably not make a second, but who knows? Elba has used up some of his good names by working on projects like Cats. But at the very least, we’re going to see how this one turns out.

Elba, 48, confirmed that he is playing Knuckles in a new movie. You might know him from Luther and he posted a picture of Knuckles’ signature spiked knuckles. The last name is Knuckles because his hands are hairy and have spikes on them.
What can we expect from Idris Elba in Sonic the Hedgehog 2?
Knuckles is a red echidna and the guardian of Master Emerald. Long ago, Knuckles fought Dr. Robotnik who wanted to steal it. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is a video game on a Sega Genesis console. And he became playable in the next Sonic and Knuckles, which came out that same year.
The story goes, the evil Doctor Robotnik convinced Knuckles that Sonic was his adversary and Knuckles ultimately comes to his senses.
We do not know who will lend their voice to another “Sonic the Hedgehog” character, Tails.

Elba will be joining the cast of this movie. James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, and Jim Carrey will also be in it. Elba’s part is Doctor Robotnik and Ben Schwartz will play Sonic.
The 2018 Man Alive lent his voice to “Finding Dory” and “Zootopia”, an animated/live-action hybrid “The Jungle Book”, all released in 2016. He also portrayed the antagonist Macavity in the 2019 film, “Cats”.
Jeff Fowler is also going to direct the sequel to the first “Sonic the Hedgehog.” It was a pre-pandemic hit film that grossed $319.7 million worldwide.
