It turns out Jim Gordon will not appear in Titans season 3, as the character has already passed away, according to Savannah Welch, who will play his daughter Barbara. Titans is mixing things up quite a bit for its third season as the heroes are moving to Gotham City. While Jason Todd will turn into Red Hood this season, the HBO Max drama introduces a few Bat-related players from the comics. Even though Titans already has two (former) Robins, Tim Drake is making his arrival, with Jay Lycurgo bringing the third Boy Wonder from panel to screen.

Rather than working as Oracle, Titans will depict Barbara as the new Commissioner for the Gotham City Police Department. While Barbara’s father, Jim Gordon, has been referenced on Titans, the Batman ally has still not appeared on-screen.

I want to say balance, but the fun part is incorporating things about this character that we know and then what are ways that we can sort of embellish that or bring more background to this character and who she is and why. Just fleshing out that story for her. There were lots of conversations with the writers and the showrunners.
She’s a hard-ass, tough and in this new position of power – taking that position over after her dad has now passed away. There’s a bit of grief in that. There’s also a real sense of purpose and what is driving that for her. Just getting to ask the questions and find that balance between this woman who people want to be kind of a boss bitch and really cool, but also that she’s vulnerable. What are those sorts of pain points for her? It’s interesting. I think that we all have ways that we can really be very tough, but there are certain people who have our hearts or who can sort of throwing us off that game. I think Dick Grayson is that for her.
