Synopsis:
Once all of the tattoo ink was removed, it was time to start designing and drawing over what is left behind before tattooing it again. The tattoo artist had a lot of freedom in this because they are making up their own design for someone else’s tattoo, so they could do whatever they want.
The tattoo artist took the tattoo design and started tracing it out over what was left on the skin which is called tattooing rough outlines, making sure to leave enough space for all of the lines in between. They then began working with a cross-hatching technique that would be used throughout most of this tattoo to help tattoo the lines, shading and depth of this tattoo.
A tattoo artist will use a cross-hatching technique to vary their line weight so that it looks like different shades in between the drawn lines. They do this by using short quick strokes with varying pressure on the skin which helps create more dimension to what is being tattooed. The design is tattooed in a way that the skin is tattooed but not too deep. This helps to avoid more pain than necessary and it’s also less likely for an infection or serious blood loss.
Every single tattoo artist has their own style of tattooing, so be sure to ask them what they specialize in before choosing your tattoo design!
