Taylor Swift, first artist to sell top selling US album of the year 5 times

Taylor Swift is being recognised as the first artist ever to have top selling US album of the year 5 times, which comes as folklore and had finished as the top selling album of the year 2020. Since data tracking began first during the year 1992, Taylor Swift has become this first ever artist to get the achievement. The news arrived as the singer’s Folklore LP did finish as the top selling album of the 220 in the US. It was released back during the year 2020 in the US and ever sknce July, it was sold in the form of 1.276 million copies through 31st of December, 2020. Therefore, it made the album to sell at least a million copies during the year, as recorded to the MRC data. 

Besides, Swift had also logged the top selling album of the year in the US in the year 2019 (‘Lover’, 1.09 million), 2017 (‘Reputation’, 1.9 million), 2014 (‘1989’, 3.66 million) and 2009 (‘Fearless’, 3.22 million). Talking over Swift’s achievement over the past 12 years, just 3 of the top selling albums have been there by annact other than that of Swift or Adele. The latter got the top seller back then in 2016 and then in 2015  (’25’, with 1.73 million and 7.44 million sold in those years, respectively) and in 2012 and 2011 (’21’, with 4.41 and 5.82 million).

Talking about Adele, Adele has had four of the top-selling albums in the US over the past 12 years.The only other top-selling artists between 2009 and 2020 include the names of Eminem (‘Recovery’, 2010; 3.41 million), Justin Timberlake (‘The 20/20 Experience’, 2013; 2.43 million). It also comprises the name of the multi-artist soundtrack to The Greatest Showman (2018, 1.49 million).

7. Juice WRLD – ‘Legends Never Die’ (301,000)

8. Halsey – ‘Manic’ (301,000)

9. Eminem – ‘Music To Be Murdered By’ (287,000)

10. Taylor Swift – ‘Evermore’ (283,000)

We have mentioned the names above as per the rank of the artists in a proper sequence. Taylor Swift dud duscuss about a songwriting shift on Folklore and Evermore in the last month. She also talked about how it have her a real breakthrough moment of happiness and excitement at the same time. Swift also revealed about her old diaristic writing style and how it had affected her life while speaking to Zane Lowe. She jasl added on to it saying that there was a point when she got as a writer only wrote very diaristic songs such that she felt so unsustainable for the future moving forward.
