The final season finds our leading ladies still navigating life at Scarlet, bold attempts to leave the magazine and relationships behind them. The first episode will answer the question fans have been waiting for all summer – whether Will, Sutton, Jacqueline, or Richard will be named Editor-in-Chief of Scarlet. The final season also features a number of notable guest stars who will reprise their roles from previous seasons including Kyle MacLachlan as Alex Crawford; Melora Hardin as Kat Sandoval with special appearances by James Le Gros and Dan Jeannotte.
The Bold Type Themes The season begins with a focus on friendship and true love as Jane, Kat, Sutton, and Jacqueline find themselves confronting the question of what it really means to grow up – but in their own Scarlet ways.
The series is about empowering women to go after their dreams without apology while understanding that there are consequences for every action they take. The show also explores the modern issues female millennials face including equal pay, sexual assault on college campuses, and finding your voice in work and life. Plot:
As they say goodbye to their 20s and prepare to usher in a new decade, The Bold Type looks back at the women who broke their hearts and changed their lives. The season’s final five episodes are set in New York City during fashion week where Jane has fully embraced her role as Scarlet’s editor-in-chief, but she and Richard have broken up again and Sutton finds herself struggling to start a family with Alex.

The series premiere date will mark exactly one year since The Bold Type launched on Freeform. The show got its start as an idea from Sarah Watson when she was approached by Freeform executive vice president of programming & development Karey Burke about creating “a show that follows three young women working at Cosmopolitan magazine.” The project was later picked up in July 2015.
The series is inspired by the life of Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief and publisher, Joanna Coles. The series follows three young women who work at The Scarlet magazine, their boss Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin), an older editor Wilhelmina Slater (Meghann Fahy), and other characters. The cast members are Aisha Dee as Katie Stevens as Jane Sloan, a twenty-something woman balancing her career while navigating relationships with friends and co-workers. The star intern working under Sutton, Kat Sokolovskis as Stephen James, Kat helps Jane run The Scarlet while keeping things together in the office. The show also stars Matt Ward as Richard Hunter, the charismatic editor-in-chief who took a chance on Jane in The Bold Type Pilot.
The other cast members include Melora Hardin who stars as Jacqueline Carlyle, an editor-in-chief whose glamorous life is a hit with the fashionistas of the industry but her creative choices are not so well-received by The Scarlet staff. The cast also features Sam Page as Sutton Brady, Kat’s boss and the man in charge of The Scarlet magazine’s fate. Other characters include Meghann Fahy as Wilhelmina Slater, an intimidating former model turned editor-in-chief, Matt Ward as Richard Hunter (Season 2), Nikohl Boosheri as Adena El Amin (Season 1), Katie Stevens, and Aisha Dee (pictured).
The Theme of the Bold Type Finale :
The message The Bold Type finale conveys is one of female empowerment, friendship, and the importance of taking chances. The cast features best friends Sutton, Jane, and Kat who are reunited when Jacqueline brings The Scarlet to New York. The three women share a dream of working in publishing but they have different ideas about the way forward. The show portrays these women as real women with real flaws, strengths, and desires and tackles issues such as workplace sexism, body-shaming, and confidence.
