What do you do if your parents absorbed in you do not give a flying fadoodle about your well-being? The Willoughby children have an answer for that: sending their parents on a dangerous vacation and finding a new family.
Netflix's new animated movie, The Willoughbys, is based on the children's book of the same name by Lois Lowry. The book parodies the stories of various children with happy endings, as Willoughby's children search for their own happy ending, or at least "one satisfactorily mutual."
It is like A series of unfortunate events, but with a little more optimism in the general message. After Willoughby's children are left alone, a brave babysitter (voiced by Maya Rudolph) comes to care for them. But with family services in line (kids need parents, they say), the Willoughbys are on the run, setting out to find out what the family's true meaning is.
They will also be joining voice cast Will Forte, Alessia Cara, Jane Krakowski, Martin Short, Ricky Gervais and Terry Crews.
The Willoughbys arrives on Netflix on April 22.
