Netflix the Sorcerer He has been constantly assembling a dedicated fan base since its premiere in December. The series quickly became one of the most popular on the platform, a second season is already being prepared and showrunner Lauren Hissrich has said they have plans for a story spanning seven seasons. But since many people are familiar with the incredible role-playing CD Projekt Red in the franchise, not to mention Andrzej Sapkowski's original books, people have been wondering why the program chose to do some things differently.
A minor element that has caused a bit of a bad smell is that Joey Batey's Jaskier doesn't wear a hat. The pissed, cowardly and strangely adorable bard is known for his ostentatious costumes and is generally seen wearing an elegant hat. In a recent Reddit question and answer showrunner, Lauren Hissrich was asked why he was absent and said:
“Ah yes, the hat! It was done, we tried it with Joey and we couldn't stop laughing. Will we try again? Insurance. Nothing is impossible."
And now we can see said hat. And yes, it seems ridiculous, as evidenced below:
However, given that Jaskier is supposed to look ridiculous compared to the dirty inhabitants of The WizardIn the world, this is not necessarily a bad thing. But I can see how it could be a bit of a distraction to the public.
One of my favorite things about The Wizard is that they absolutely nailed Jaskier. In the role, the character could have been the equivalent of the Jar Jar Binks show, but Joey Bates is a funny guy and Geralt of Henry Cavill is a fantastic straight guy. Also, and nobody who has seen the program can deny this, Jaskier is a great Bard and his song "Throwing a coin at his sorcerer" has deservedly become a viral success.
In fact, now that I have written about it, I have it in my head again … "When a humble bard / took a walk through / with Geralt de Rivia / along came so muuuucho. "
