Dogecoin’s Latest Surge—And the Games Riding the Wave
Dogecoin, the meme coin that refuses to fade away, hit a three-year high last December. Part of it was the broader crypto market bouncing back, sure. But let’s be honest—Elon Musk’s relentless tweeting (and that whole DOGE government agency bit) didn’t hurt.
What’s interesting, though, isn’t just the price action. It’s how Dogecoin’s goofy, lighthearted vibe has seeped into gaming. From battle royales to card games, there’s a surprising number of titles where DOGE isn’t just a reference—it’s a full-blown character, setting, or even a way to earn real crypto.
Battle Royales, Cards, and Mining—Oh My
Take *OpenSeason*, for example. This Fortnite-like shooter added an entire Doge-themed biome earlier this year, complete with nods to Kabosu, the real-life Shiba Inu behind the meme. It’s a collaboration with *Own the Doge*, the NFT project that holds the official Doge IP. You can find it on the Epic Games Store if you’re curious.
Then there’s *Raini: The Lords of Light*, a trading card game packed with crypto in-jokes. Alongside cards featuring Satoshi Nakamoto and Sam Bankman-Fried, there’s a “Chad Doge” card—originally teased with Jeff Bezos, of all people. It’s an Avalanche NFT, because of course it is.
For something more retro, *Super Doginals* is a side-scrolling brawler where you punch through enemies as one of three characters—two of which are, naturally, Shiba Inus. The whole game is inscribed on the Dogecoin blockchain, which feels either brilliantly meta or completely unnecessary, depending on who you ask.
Real Rewards (Sort Of)
If you’re after actual crypto payouts, *Bitcoin Miner* might scratch that itch. Despite the name, it lets you mine fake DOGE and other coins—but rewards you with real Bitcoin (tiny amounts, mind you). It’s not a get-rich-quick scheme, but it’s a fun way to kill time.
*Decentraland* also jumped on the trend, adding an AI-powered, buffed-up Doge NPC. You can chat with him for free, though building anything in the game’s NFT-based world will cost you.
More Doge on the Horizon
This isn’t the end of it. The upcoming *DogeOS* layer-2 network and *PlaysOut*’s plans for 15 hypercasual Doge games mean we’ll likely see even more Shiba Inu silliness in the next year or two.
For now, though, these games are already out there—whether you want to fight as Doge, collect Doge, or just mine pretend DOGE for real Bitcoin. It’s weird, it’s chaotic, and honestly? It’s kind of perfect for Dogecoin.
