Top Gun 2: Top Gun 2 movie cast will consist of Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and possibly Kelly McGillis. Top Gun 2 has been given the go-ahead by Tom Cruise. Top Gun is one of my Top 5 movies since I was 13 years old, so this is huge for me!
The Plot of Top Gun 2 :
# Top Gun 2: The Top Gun Twitter account tweeted a photo of Maverick and Goose’s fighter jackets in front of an F14 Tomcat while on the set of Top Gun 2 . There should be some degree of skepticism towards these photos at first glance because they could have easily been photoshopped, but there is a significant amount of evidence behind them. First off, Top Gun director Tony Scott died in 2012 as reported by CNN. Top Gun 2 was set to be released in 2022. The Top Gun Twitter account has been inactive for several years following Tony Scott’s death, but Top Gun’s Twitter account @ TopGunMovie has tweeted multiple times this past week as if the movie was still being produced.
# Maverick’s jacket is also close to Goose’s because Goose had a very personalized design and Maverick chose one that seemed similar. This further proves Top Gun 2 will stay true to its origins–it would be impossible for Top Gun 2 to stray from the plot without it being Top Gun 1.5!
# Val Kilmer previously stated in 2010 he wanted back on board for Top Gun 2 . He posted on his Facebook, “I need your Top Gun 2 support. If you agree post TopGun2 YES below.” This was confirmed by Top Gun director Tony Scott, telling Crave Online: “Val Kilmer wants Top Gun to be his last film”.
# Top Gun was originally written from the perspective of a woman fighter pilot. The role went to Kelly McGillis, but it was later changed into Goose’s character because of gender issues and political correctness from FOX executives in 1987 ( Top Gun released in June 1986). Top Gun 2 will likely stay true to the original script that boasted about women fighter pilots! This would be a first for Hollywood–a mainstream movie not made by Disney with female characters who are not just there for editing or writing purposes.
It wouldn’t even be the first Top Gun film that focuses on female fighter pilots. Rene Russo, who played Charlie’s wife in Top Gun received Top Gun 2 treatment for her character, “Charlie”, to be a Top Gun instructor at the Topgun school. Tom Cruise is also trying to get his Top Gun co-star Kelly McGillis into Top Gun 2 . McGillis whose last role was in the 2005 movie, East of A, stated that she would love to do Top Gun 2.

# Val Kilmer wants Top Gun to be his last film and hopes he won’t have a future career because it will allow him more time with his family.
# Originally Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer were considered for Pete Mitchell ( Maverick ). Then Tom Cruise read the Top Gun script and decided to play the part of Pete Mitchell ( Maverick ).
# Top Gun character Iceman’s name was originally going to be “Lone Wolf” but it sounded too much like Lone Ranger so they changed it to what it is. Also Top Gun 2: Cast In the Top Gun movie, Tom Cruise played Junior Grade Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell who defied his commanding officer, played by Kelly McGillis, in order to show how good he really was during a dogfight with an F-14. The theme of Top Gun 2 :
Top Gun was directed by Tony Scott who is known for directing Top Gun, True Romance, and Enemy of the State. Top Gun 2 star Val Kilmer has also starred in The Doors (1991), Tombstone (1993) as Doc Holliday, and Heat (1995).
Tom Cruise played fighter pilot Pete Mitchell aka Maverick in Top gun. Maverick’s call sign was “Iceman”. In the sequel to “Top gun” Iceman’s name was going to be changed to Merlin. Top Gun followed Top Gun pilot trainees who were under the tutelage of Top gun Marine Ripper (played by Top Gun cast ). Top Gun 2 is expected to follow Top Gun reunited with his Top Gun training buddies of Goose, Slider, and Wolfman.
