-Katara: Katara and Sokka are siblings that live in the Southern Water Tribe who have lost their village to fire nation troops. They join together with Aang to help them get back what was taken from them.
-Sokka: Sokka is the brother of Katara and a member of Avatar’s group. He fights against any enemy, and he provides his knowledge as well to help Avatar defeat the fire nation troops who have destroyed their village.
-Zuko: Zuko is the son of Avatar Azula, and he initially wants Avatar’s death for what Avatar did to his father but then realizes that Avatar merely acted in self-defence. He also joins Avatar on their journey and becomes a member of the group as well by helping him defeat fire nation. Avatar and Zuko have a very strong bond, which Avatar’s son eventually discovers.
-Toph: Toph joins Avatar on their quest to defeat the Fire Nation. Avatar is the only one who can detect her presence, which he uses to help protect her during battle.
