Avengers: Endgame Encore Box Office: Can The Russo Brothers Push Their MCU Global Haul Beyond $7B With This Re-Release?

Avengers: Endgame Encore stands out as one of the highly anticipated re-releases of the year, boasting strong advance bookings in select markets. Directed by the Russo brothers, Avengers: Endgame previously brought their cumulative Marvel box-office earnings close to a significant milestone. They have had two opportunities within a year to push past this massive global milestone for their MCU filmography. Attention is now focused on Avengers: Endgame Encore to see if Joe and Anthony Russo can reach this prestigious benchmark prior to the release of Avengers: Doomsday. Read on for all the details.

The Russo brothers entered the MCU with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, widely considered among the best Marvel films. They went on to direct Captain America: Civil War, followed by Infinity War and Endgame. Notably, every single one of these films except The Winter Soldier has crossed the $1 billion threshold at the worldwide box office.

How much have the Russo brothers’ MCU movies earned worldwide?

Data from Box Office Mojo indicates that the global box-office total for the Russo Brothers across these four MCU titles stands at approximately $6.7 billion. The primary contributors are Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War. Endgame brought in $2.79 billion globally, while Infinity War accumulated $2.05 billion. Aside from James Cameron, the Russo brothers are the only filmmakers to direct two separate films that each crossed $2 billion worldwide.

Can Avengers: Endgame Encore help them cross $7 billion worldwide?

Launching in cinemas next week, Avengers: Endgame Encore is already generating substantial excitement through its advance ticket sales. Because it will include special footage from Avengers: Doomsday, solid box-office returns are anticipated. Even so, these earnings will fall short of pushing the Russo brothers’ total MCU global haul past the $7 billion mark.

To push the directorial duo’s MCU total past $7 billion, Avengers: Endgame Encore would need to bring in more than $300 million. However, that milestone will easily be cleared when Avengers: Doomsday opens in December of this year. Scheduled for release on September 25, the Marvel feature will also have an opportunity to reclaim the number-one spot on the all-time global box-office chart by overtaking Avatar once again.

Check out the top four movies of the Russo brothers in the MCU

  1. Avengers: Endgame (2019): $2.79 billion
  2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018): $2.048 billion
  3. Captain America: Civil War (2016): $1.15 billion
  4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014): $714.4 million
