Sandra Bullock’s Practical Magic 2 has moved into its second week in theaters. After launching in the #1 position on its domestic opening day, the movie quickly lost momentum and has underperformed compared to initial projections. Currently, the feature is tracking similarly to its 1998 predecessor, which was a box-office disappointment.
Expectations were high for the sequel, with the star power of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman anticipated to generate major box-office returns. It was also projected to deliver Warner Bros its long-awaited $100 million domestic milestone for 2026, though the major studio will now have to wait longer to reach that goal.
Practical Magic 2 Enters 2nd Week
As the film entered its second domestic frame, it encountered heavy competition from a newcomer, Resident Evil. According to Luiz Fernando, the movie surrendered all of its Premium Large Format (PLF) screens to the new horror release. Consequently, Practical Magic 2 slipped to the #2 spot, bringing in $3.3 million on Friday—a 74.8% decline from its opening day. The spooky comedy sequel has now accumulated a domestic cume of $41.2 million.
