Directed by Ranjith, Law & Order arrived in cinemas on September 18. Starring Prakash Varma as a police officer, the movie had a disastrous theatrical launch. Negative buzz had already built up around the project following the release of its teaser and trailer. In an effort to boost interest days before the premiere, the producers began highlighting a cameo appearance by Mammootty. Even so, his participation failed to rescue the picture from a weak debut.
How Much Did Law & Order earn at the Box office in 2 Days?
The Malayalam police drama opened with a dismal 29 lakh net domestically. Earnings dipped on day two, bringing in another 18 lakh net within India. Consequently, the two-day net collection sits at a meager 47 lakh. Meanwhile, the feature has generated no overseas footprint. At its current trajectory, the movie will likely conclude its theatrical run over the course of this week.
Law & Order now ranks among the lowest-grossing opening Malayalam films to feature an A-list star in a guest role. Audiences have given the project poor reviews, dismissing the cop drama as outdated.

About Mammootty’s Cameo
Mammootty makes a special appearance in the movie as Karikkamuri Shanmughan. He originally popularized this persona in the 2004 Malayalam film Black. That earlier feature was written and directed by Ranjith, who also helmed Law & Order. Despite Mammootty reprising a cherished role, the film failed to generate excitement among viewers.

The Malayalam release marks a comeback for filmmaker Ranjith, a multiple National Award winner whose credits include Ravanaprabhu, Nandanam, Chandrolsavam, Pranchiyettan and the Saint, and Indian Rupee, among others. The director returned to filmmaking following a sexual harassment investigation. Earlier this year, he was taken into judicial custody by the Thodupuzha Police over an attempted sexual assault case.
