Netflix has just confirmed that the hit Squid Game web series will be getting a second season. The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much, but it does feature a squid wrapped around an old woman and her umbrella.
The original series stars K.J. Aubert, who plays the proud lead character Raphael, a squid who has trouble adjusting to modern society and his new life as an intern at an ad agency.
The show features cameos from celebrities like Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Nathan Fillion, and Adam Savage of “MythBusters” (who portrayed himself).
The pilot will release between 2023 – 2024 to critical acclaim and receive praise for its unique brand of humor mixed with delightfully adult themes. Even President Barack Obama has tweeted about it.
Introduction to The Squid Game
The Squid Game is an educational game, developed in Python by Philipp Schermann, that teaches players how to code. The goal of the game is to prove one’s coding skills by sending a squad of squids through several levels and defeating the Evil Robot Army.
Players solve logic problems and code their squids with patterns of commands that are translated into actual lines of program code.
The squid, guided by the player, moves through levels and destroys robots based on the player’s command. By completing each of the levels, players earn points, which are then added to their personal winner’s score. The goal of the game is not to attack or kill any of the enemies the past level has killed.

The storyline of The Squid Game
The story of The Squid Game begins in the oceans. Not a single living creature is seen, only darkness and black water. One day, something small and insignificant makes its presence known by rubbing against the boat’s hull — it’s a squid!
However, this is not just any old squid. It is the first squid ever to have appeared in the ocean! It is an extremely small squid, but that doesn’t change its significance. The tiny beginning to grow, and it continues to grow in masses.
At this point, however, none of us can see the squid. Since it began to thrive and spread through the ocean like wildfire and was not even noticed by humans on land, we have no idea what has become of the tiny creature’s future.
The second season of the ‘Squid Game’ offers the return of fan-favorite heroes
The highly-anticipated, second season of ‘Squid Game’ is set to return in 2020. Practically a cult favorite, the first season of this retro RPG game created by an unknown programmer in 2013 quickly gained a following after being featured on YouTube and elsewhere.
“People just kept asking for more, so it was only natural that we’d come back,” said Takata Yamazuki, director and CEO of Squid Games. “The value of nostalgia is highly underrated, in my opinion.”
The first season featured a cast of characters and locations that were designed to look like pixel art. An anime adaptation by P.A. Works (Angel Beats!, Shirobako) was announced in 2017 and released the following year but was met with mixed reception from critics, though still enjoyed by many fans.
A feature-length live-action film was also announced at the same time as the anime and it will be released in 2020 to coincide with season 2.
