The much-awaited advance bookings for Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 have begun at the Indian box office. After a strong response in the overseas market, moviegoers have been waiting for pre-sales to commence in the domestic market, and, as expected, the hype is clearly visible. As of now, extremely limited shows have been listed for pre-sales, but the pace is impressive, and the film is targeting big numbers. Keep reading for a detailed report!
Advance booking starts for extremely limited shows
As we write, only 380 shows have been listed, and full-fledged bookings are yet to open. Nonetheless, the urgency at ticket counters is evident, and even hourly trending has begun on BookMyShow. As of 12:36 pm IST, the film sold 2.79K tickets in the last hour through the online ticket booking platform, offering a glimpse of the anticipated madness once full-fledged pre-sales open.
Jailer 2 sells 38K+ tickets through day 1 advance bookings
Coming to the day 1 advance booking update, Jailer 2 has sold 38.1K tickets (excluding blocked seats). In terms of collections, it has grossed 64.05 lakh at the Indian box office through opening-day pre-sales. In net collections, it equals 54.28 lakh. The overall occupancy is 27%, which is impressive. With more shows, expect fireworks in the coming days.
Trending
Currently, bookings are open only in Tamil Nadu. Among cities, Chennai is in the lead with 30.01 lakh, followed by Madurai with 11.77 lakh. Trichy has sold tickets worth 6.83 lakh for day 1, while Coimbatore has contributed 6.43 lakh.
Will it challenge Jana Nayagan?
Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan holds the record for Kollywood’s highest day-1 advance bookings in 2026. Jailer 2, with the sequel benefit, has a strong chance to overtake this number. With 5 days still to go, one expects the biggie to hit the 30 crore mark in opening-day pre-sales, so beating Jana Nayagan isn’t a big task. Yes, it is likely to fall short of Coolie‘s 37.2 crore gross, but the margin won’t be that huge.
