Dharma Productions and Leo Media Collective have joined forces for an upcoming major feature film. The two production companies are teaming up to bring the story of R.N. Kao—the visionary who built R&AW and established India’s external intelligence agency—to the big screen. The movie will highlight Kao’s life path and the institution he helped forge while operating largely behind the scenes.
This announcement coincides with R&AW marking its 58th anniversary on September 21. The feature is slated to hit theaters on August 11, 2028, coinciding with Independence Day week. This release date will also align with R&AW’s 60th anniversary milestone, serving as a cinematic tribute to its founder and the organization he created.

Adapted from Nitin Gokhale’s book Gentleman Spymaster, the project is designed as a large-scale espionage action drama. While the movie remains untitled at this stage, specifics regarding the cast and crew are currently kept confidential. So far, the studios have only revealed the production itself, with announcements regarding the director and cast anticipated in the near future.
