He acknowledged that his alcohol addiction ultimately cost him his roles on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. “I suffered from delirium tremens, the most severe form of alcohol withdrawal, and almost died after falling and hitting my head on a bathtub,” he revealed in his revealing essay.

The dangerous fall fractured his skull, caused bleeding on his brain, and necessitated emergency life-saving surgery. Following a 2020 petition by his sister to establish a guardianship, Tyler later accused her of taking advantage of the arrangement, alleging that she redirected reimbursements for personal gain.
Tyler asserted that his sister used the funds to cover her personal expenses and pay off credit card debt. “I was essentially shielded from the outside world. The actor was discovered dead in his bedroom in October 2023 at the age of 50. According to the medical report, his death was caused by positional asphyxia stemming from acute alcohol intoxication, which led to suffocation. Previously married to Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004 and Brienne Pedigo from 2008 to 2021, Tyler is survived by a son and a daughter.
