In 1989, after a meeting with a tribal chief, Sting started the Rainforest Fund

The Rainforest Fund was established in 1989 by the celebrated musician Sting and several partners with the goal of aiding indigenous populations in Brazil. The initiative grew out of a dialogue with Chief Raoni of the Kayapó tribe concerning the preservation of land. Since its inception, the group has accumulated significant resources to champion indigenous rights across various rainforest areas. Numerous international projects have received support over the years as Sting and Trudie Styler sustain their efforts to draw attention to the obstacles confronting rainforests.
