In 1993, Bob Hope sold his Jordan Ranch to the National Park Service

In 1993, Bob Hope sold his 2,308-acre Jordan Ranch to the National Park Service for preservation. The sale was a response to opposition against a proposed development that included golf courses and luxury homes. Hope’s action expanded the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, protecting local wildlife and habitats. This deal did not include the cattle managed by the ranch caretaker, as relocation responsibilities fell to the National Park Service.
