Last Man In Tower Box Office Collection Day 1: Manoj Bajpayee Starrer Opens Below Governor, Lands Among 2026’s Lowest Openers

Led by Manoj Bajpayee and Boman Irani, *Last Man In Tower* experienced a subdued theatrical debut. Due to minimal promotional efforts, the picture lacked pre-release anticipation. Despite featuring a talented cast, it struggled to generate excitement ahead of its premiere. The movie is an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name.

How Much Did Last Man In Tower Earn At The Box Office On Opening Day?

Set in Mumbai, the storyline tackles the topic of urban redevelopment. However, the lack of publicity and public awareness directly impacted its commercial performance. On its first day, the movie brought in a net collection of just 3 lakh. Unless positive word-of-mouth takes hold, it risks struggling to survive beyond its opening week.

Opens Below Governor

In recent years, Manoj Bajpayee has predominantly appeared in direct-to-OTT releases. Although recognized as one of India’s premier actors, his theatrical track record has been modest. His previous big-screen outing, *Governor*, launched earlier this year and collected a mere 1.1 crore net domestically. Overwhelmed by direct competition from Imtiaz Ali’s *Main Vaapas Aaunga*, Kangana Ranaut’s *Bharat Bhagya Vidhata*, and the horror sequel *Haunted 3D*, Bajpayee’s project ultimately faltered.

Now, *Last Man In Tower* has rivaled *Governor* for one of the weakest opening tallies of the year, potentially marking the lowest start for any Bollywood release in 2026. While critical feedback for the feature has been favorable, it remains to be seen if this will translate into improved ticket sales moving forward.

More About Last Man In Tower

Helmed by director Ben Rekhi, the plot centers around a retired teacher living in Mumbai, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee. He refuses to back down from his principles when his neighbors, including Mrs Puri, accept compromises for a new development project, straining relationships with people he has known for decades. The screenplay was written by Aravind Adiga, Juhi Chaturvedi, and Sooni Taraporevala. The cast also features Divya Dutta in a key role.
