Director Ranjith’s latest venture, Law & Order, starring Prakash Varma in the lead role, suffered a disastrous theatrical launch and continued to struggle from day one. Even the presence of Mammootty, who reprised a famous character after decades, failed to attract audiences. Consequently, the movie was pulled from theatres after a mere week.
How Much Did Law & Order Earn At The Box Office In 2 Days?
The Malayalam police drama managed a meager opening of just 29 lakh net in India. Over its opening weekend, earnings reached 65 lakh. The feature experienced a steep drop in its opening week, forcing its removal from cinemas and finishing the week with 92 lakh. Adding 1 lakh on each of Days 8 and 9 brought the net domestic total to 94 lakh, translating to an Indian gross of 1.11 crore.

The Malayalam release marks a comeback for National Award-winning director Ranjith. His past directorial credits include Ravanaprabhu, Nandanam, Chandrolsavam, Pranchiyettan and the Saint, and Indian Rupee, among others. This project serves as his return following a sexual harassment case. Earlier in the year, he was taken into judicial custody by the Thodupuzha Police regarding an attempted sexual assault allegation.
Mammootty appears in a special cameo as Karikkamuri Shanmughan, a role he originally popularized in the 2004 Malayalam film Black. That earlier movie was also written and directed by Ranjith. However, the nostalgic return of this character failed to generate excitement among viewers.
