Niantic has announced the advent of the Lunar New Year in Pokémon Go, and with it comes the debut of Minccino and Darumaka, an avalanche of red Pokémon, and a greater chance of encountering Shinies (through Polygon).
The event starts on January 24 at 9:00 p.m. GMT and ends on February 3 at 9:00 p.m. GMT Herds of Charmeleon, Corphish, Flareon, Foongus and other red Pokémon will be found in the wild, and there is even a chance to catch a red Shiny Gyarados in the outside world. The eggs will contain red Pokémon like Foongus, Shuckle and Darumaka, the last of which will make its debut in the mobile game. These creatures will hatch only from 7 km eggs, so clean your inventory and make room for those special mottled eggs.
2020 is the year of the rat, so there will be a limited Minccino research event that will take place on February 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Professor Willow has a series of tasks to complete on the chinchilla Pokémon, and ensures that he can evolve to Cinccino with a Unova stone. Minccino will also be in 5 km Eggs, even after the closing of the Limited Research event, with the possibility of finding such a rare bright Minccino. And Pokémon like rodents like Bidoof, Marill, Minun, Nidoran and Rattata will glide in the wild while the research event is taking place.
Finally, there will be more rare gift candies during Lunar New Year celebrations, and it will increase the likelihood of becoming Lucky Friends and obtaining a Lucky Pokémon.
