A fascinating box office battle recently unfolded within the Tamil film industry when Karthi’s Sardar 2 and Soori’s Mandaadi hit cinemas on the same day. While Sardar 2 launched with significant anticipation driven by franchise momentum, Mandaadi entered the race comparatively late. Initially, its release date was locked without being seen as a major threat. However, that perception shifted dramatically once the movie unveiled its trailer. The captivating visuals of the sea-based drama resonated with viewers, building strong momentum—and today, Mandaadi has surged far ahead of Sardar 2.
How Much Did It Sardar 2 and Mandaadi Earn In 3 Days?
On its third day, Sardar 2 brought in a modest 2.2 crore. The spy action feature has experienced a downward trajectory ever since its Thursday premiere. Although it posted a respectable opening of 4.5 crore net domestically, it suffered a 45% slump on its second day. Furthermore, the feature has shed nearly 900 screenings across India in just three days. Its domestic net earnings now rest at 9.15 crore, translating to 10.8 crore in gross collections. International figures have been weak as well, with the project pulling in only 3.5 crore in overseas gross. This puts its cumulative worldwide gross at 14.3 crore.
In contrast, Mandaadi secured a massive 10 crore on day three, single-handedly outpacing the entire three-day total of Sardar 2. The Soori vehicle boasts a domestic net total of 21.55 crore, amounting to 25.43 crore gross. Internationally, the feature has collected 5 crore in gross revenue, pushing its worldwide tally to 30.43 crore.

During the first Saturday alone, Mandaadi generated 354.55% higher earnings than Sardar 2. At this stage, any sense of a close race has vanished, with audiences overwhelmingly favoring Mandaadi over Sardar 2. Despite benefiting from established franchise appeal, Karthi’s movie failed to maintain steady figures through its opening weekend. When reviewing the first three days for both titles, Mandaadi leads Sardar 2 by 135% in domestic net collections alone. Indications suggest Sardar 2 may exit theaters soon, while Mandaadi continues its stellar run toward becoming one of the premier Tamil cinematic successes of the year.
