Last year, OnePlus announced that they are working on smart TV and the launch could be in mid-2019, somewhere around May. Though since then there have been no information or confirmation on the launch from OnePlus. But recently, tipster Ishan Agarwal has flashed some insights about the probable soon launch of OnePlus TV with a “not very far away.” tweet. OnePlus TV is a highly anticipated product, why? Because its makers are popular for bringing revolutionary affordable flagship phones which makes this probably-under-product smart TV a premium affordable television which can bring a positive- rage in the Indian market.
So, in this tweet, Ishan Agarwal tweeted about “might be soon” launch of OnePlus TV. The source of information though is sourced from an unnamed destination. The tweet doesn’t provide any specifics and there is still a lot that is unknown for now, but according to indirect hinting, OnePlus could launch this smart TV in 2019.
Last year, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, gave some details about the smart TV inline and its launch. Lau informed that the Company is looking for a mid-2019 launch. In his interview to The Economic Times, Lau informed that the company needed more time to work on the OnePlus TV and that the launch could be pushed to 2020. But Agarwal’s tweet suggests that the company might reveal something about OnePlus TV in the coming months.
Will there be a OnePlus TV Vs Mi TV?
Ishan Agarwal also speculated about a no-go-presence of OLED display in OnePlus TV in his follow up tweet, which might stop it from falling into the same category of premium players in like of Samsung, Sony, and LG.
Though OnePlus could be eyeing to take the market of Xiaomi’s Mi TVs with an affordable OnePlus TV. These speculations are based on the disruptive nature of the products from OnePlus in history.
Whereas, Mi sold 2 million Mi TV units in India since it’s launched and has expanded its line-up in India since 2018.
OnePlus has already confirmed that India will be among the first few markets to get the OnePlus TV with exclusive selling right to Amazon, whenever it launches. Interestingly, OnePlus also is partners with the e-commerce platform to sell its smartphones. OnePlus TV is a large mystery with not much or any details or information about its internals of designs. But we might have some blasts from the past and according to those past rumours, the Smart TV from OnePlus will just not be smart but will function as a smart hub for homes. This ground-breaking detail majorly hints towards a voice assistance integrated feature with this upcoming device. It is also speculated that the OnePlus TV will run on a version of OxygenOS with features likewise to Android TV OS.
