After making waves online following his debut in Sky Force—where a circle dance step in the movie even turned him into a social media meme—Veer Pahariya is now preparing for his second feature, Prem Keetanu. Since his first outing featured Akshay Kumar in the leading role, this upcoming project will serve as a true test of Pahariya’s individual box-office appeal, with the entire film resting on his shoulders as a remake of the blockbuster Malayalam hit Premalu.
The trailer for the upcoming romantic-comedy has officially dropped, confirming that the movie is indeed a remake of the popular 2024 Malayalam release. Furthermore, the project is produced in partnership with Bhavana Studios, the banner behind the original film. Given that the Malayalam version worked wonders for its team, particularly leads Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, the big question is whether Veer Pahariya can successfully anchor this adaptation.
Audiences familiar with the original will quickly notice from the preview that this is not merely inspired by the source material, but rather a direct, scene-by-scene remake. The footage showcases Pahariya as an earnest, lovestruck college student before following him into post-graduate life, where he falls head over heels for a corporate professional played by Aafiya Sayed. His primary obstacle arrives in the form of a charming co-worker who is also vying for the woman’s affection.

In this version, Veer Pahariya steps into the shoes originally played by Naslen, while newcomer Aafiya Sayed takes on the role previously portrayed by Mamitha Baiju. While Premalu was set in Hyderabad, Prem Keetanu shifts its backdrop to Delhi-Gurgaon. It remains to be seen how the filmmakers incorporate the new setting, especially since the city functioned almost like a distinct character in the original story, which followed a circle of Malayalis navigating an unfamiliar region.
Composer Rahul Mishra provides a decent soundtrack for the film, which also benefits from a solid supporting cast featuring Aparshakti Khurrana, Rakesh Bedi, and Nikhil Vijay. Overall, the narrative presents a promising, highly humorous exploration of love and friendship.
However, Prem Keetanu arrives as the second Malayalam film remake to hit theaters in under a month, following the recent theatrical release of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan, which has experienced a slow box-office run.
