Street Fighter Box Office: Eyes $70 Million Worldwide Opening, Set To Claim No. 1 Spot In North America & Overseas

Street Fighter, with an ensemble cast, is set to be released this weekend and is tracking to be #1 worldwide. The movie with an ensemble cast could be a surprise blockbuster of the year, and these projected global debut numbers are evidence of that. There are no tentpole releases to compete against it, but this is probably one of the highly budgeted releases this month. Keep scrolling for the deets.

Released by Paramount Pictures, the movie has a big star cast including Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa. The ratings have not yet been revealed, and a lot will depend on word of mouth during its theatrical run.

Street Fighter eyes $70 million debut weekend at the worldwide box office

According to Deadline‘s latest report, Street Fighter is projected to top the domestic and worldwide box office charts this weekend, with the Capcom video game adaptation expected to collect in the high-$30 million range in North America and the mid-$30 million range internationally. This puts its global opening weekend at nearly $70 million, with the possibility of a stronger debut.

Even if it earns more than $30 million in North America, the video game adaptation will still not be among the top 30 biggest opening weekends ever for October releases. The Jason Momoa starrer will be clashing against Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin‘s Whalefall. It will be interesting to see which film ultimately emerges as the box-office winner.

What is the film about?

The film follows estranged street fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they reunite after Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a brutal showdown fueled by skill, fate, and fury. However, they soon uncover a deadly conspiracy that forces them to fight each other while confronting the demons of their past. Street Fighter will be released on October 16.
