The Odyssey North America Box Office: Christopher Nolan’s Epic Inches Closer To Beating The OG Avengers!

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has now maintained a daily gross above the $1 million threshold in North America for 62 consecutive days. Having surpassed the $600 million domestic milestone last week, the mythological epic continues its ascent on the all-time domestic box-office charts. Read on for all the details.

How much has the film collected so far at the North American box office?

The mythological epic brought in $1.1 million domestically on its 9th Wednesday, marking the 5th biggest 9th Wednesday in North American box-office history. By extending its streak of $1 million-plus days to 62 consecutive films, it edged out Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and its 61-day streak, claiming the #5 spot for the longest consecutive runs of all time.

Data from Box Office Mojo shows that The Odyssey climbed back to #1 in the domestic rankings after experiencing a drop of just 12.7% compared to the previous Wednesday. This brings its cumulative North American earnings to $604 million, and the picture is currently on path to reach a domestic cume of $610 million.

Inches away from surpassing The Avengers domestically

Projected to finish its theatrical run with a domestic haul between $620 million and $630 million, the Christopher Nolan-directed feature is poised to easily outpace the original Avengers movie domestically. Box office records indicate that The Avengers finished its lifetime North American run at $623.35 million, currently holding the position of the #15 highest-grossing film of all time in North America.

Ultimately, The Odyssey will overtake The Avengers to secure the #15 spot on the all-time highest-grossing domestic list. This will mark the final milestone title that Nolan’s epic clears on the all-time list during this run, meaning it will fall short of Jurassic World’s original domestic total of $653.4 million.
