The Paradise North America Box Office: Nani Starrer Turns Out To Be A Major Disappointment

The Paradise, as expected, has emerged as a failure at the North American box office (USA and Canada). Backed by Nani’s strong pull, the film took a flyer, but since reviews were negative, it couldn’t maintain the momentum and started fading in no time. As a result, in the opening week itself, the verdict is out and is a major disappointment. Keep reading for a detailed report!

Fumbled after a big start

As the most hyped Nani film ever, the Telugu action thriller had a blast in advance bookings, grossing $1.25 million for premiere shows and day 1. Backed by such pre-sales, it marked a flying start in the territory. Including premiere shows, the film posted a solid $1.63 million (15.67 crore)by the end of the first day. However, thereafter, it fumbled due to poor reviews.

How much did The Paradise earn at the North American box office in 8 days?

As per the latest collection update, The Paradise grossed just $5K on its second Thursday, day 8. Overall, it has earned $2.11 million at the North American box office in the extended first week. It equals 20.29 crore in Indian rupees. With collections dropping as low as $5Kfor a day within a week, the film clearly faced rejection from audiences.

Breakeven and recovery of the film

For those who don’t know, in North America, The Paradise must earn $3.25 million to achieve breakeven, which equals 31.25 crore. In 8 days, it has scored $2.11 million, thus recovering 64.92% of its breakeven target. Although the recovery looks good in the first week, the film has still emerged as a failure.

From here, it won’t see any turnaround and will continue to decline, eventually falling short of its target by a considerable margin. For Nani, who is considered one of the most bankable stars in the territory, the failure of The Paradise is a big blow, and hopefully, he’ll bounce back with his next film, Bloody Romeo, directed by Sujeeth.
