As veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja marks half a century in Indian cinema, he has achieved a major international milestone. The Marathi psychological thriller Gondhal, featuring his musical score, has been chosen as India’s official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.
Helmed by director Santosh Davakhar, the motion picture represents the first time a film featuring a score by Ilaiyaraaja has been selected as India’s official Oscar contender.
