According to the latest figures from box office analyst Luiz Fernando, the movie grossed $4.2 million on Saturday across 75,000 screenings in China. This represented a 40% decline from its opening day on Friday. Consequently, the feature’s total box office earnings in China reached $11.2 million after two days.

The feature is tracking toward a three-day re-release opening weekend between $13 million and $14 million at the Chinese box office. It has already secured $615k in pre-sales for Sunday while screening across more than 73,000 locations. This positions it as one of the largest opening weekends for a comic book film in post-COVID China.
The Marvel project is on course to surpass Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for the second-biggest Hollywood reissue debut in China. Although initial projections pointed toward beating Avatar’s $21.2 million 2021 re-release debut weekend in the country, that outcome now looks unlikely.
