The Human on Showtime is the new series that will be premiering on the network. The series follows a doctor who can’t help but feel like he’s losing his humanity as he faces difficult cases every day in the hospital. His only relief comes from time spent with his wife and son.

Cast and characters of Human series:
-Amy Schumer as the lead role of the doctor: the show’s protagonist, the doctor.
-Michelle Hurd is the lead role of the wife: the human’s mother and the only person that can keep him grounded in reality.
-Tommy Dewey as the son: the human is his father who he does not know very well because they live apart from each other for most of their lives.
-Bobby Cannavale plays the role of the doctor’s best friend: the only person the human can confide in when he is at his worst but has to keep it secret from everyone else that the human talks to him about his problems.
-Rory Scovel is cast as another one of the doctor’s friends: the only person the human can go to when he has a problem that needs to be fixed.
-Mary Elizabeth Ellis is the doctor’s sister: his older and more responsible sibling by three years. She used to take care of him as a child and now tries her best not just for herself but also for the rest of the family, including the human.
-Carrie Coon plays the role of the doctor’s wife: the only person the human can actually connect with, even if it is in a different way than he does with his sister and two best friends. The audience will not get to see her too much but whenever they do she brings out the humanity in both the doctor and the human. Because of this, even more characters from their past will make an appearance as well including some they would rather not see again but cannot avoid because of how close the town is to the hospital.
Plot details:
The doctor has the realization that the human is not quite as different from his sister, friends or even him after all. He begins to see the similarities between them and realizes he can connect with the human more than anyone else in his life. This gives him a new sense of purpose when it comes to the human and the idea of how he should be cared for once the hospital finds out about him.
This makes the doctor start to wonder if it is really necessary to keep the secret from the rest of his friends any longer. They are capable, smart people who can handle just about anything that gets thrown at them.
Synopsis:
Set in the near future, the drama centres on a family struggling to survive. Their lives are forever changed when the young son is diagnosed with “the syndrome”. As they struggle against incredible obstacles – their dynamic mother, three children, the boy’s illness and the threat of a broken medical system that threatens their ability to survive.
