Director Zach Cregger’s adaptation of Resident Evil has kicked off its run at the Indian box office on a strong note, bolstered by a successful opening weekend. This marks the franchise’s largest opening-weekend gross in India, adding to a strong year for Hollywood releases in the country.
How Much Did Resident Evil Earn In 4 Days In India?
The horror drama launched in India with 4,314 shows, achieving a 15% occupancy rate and a solid opening of 2.6 crore net. Momentum continued through the opening weekend, lifting the cumulative gross to 9.5 crore and securing the franchise record. After four days, the film’s net total stands at 10.75 crore.

Following its energetic weekend, Resident Evil experienced a drop of more than 50% compared to its opening day. Bringing in 1.25 crore on its first Monday, the film suffered a 51.92% decline from Day 1 and a 64% drop from Sunday’s figures. A Monday decline exceeding 40% typically signifies that a film has failed the Monday test.
On Day 4, the English version generated Rs 70 lakh, the Hindi version brought in Rs 35 lakh, and both the Tamil and Telugu versions contributed Rs 10 lakh each.
Resident Evil North America Box Office
In North America, Resident Evil opened at the top spot with a record-breaking $26.3 million on its first day, a figure that includes Thursday preview screenings. Despite dips on Days 2 and 3, the R-rated video game adaptation cleared $60 million over its opening weekend.
The 2026 release has already surpassed the complete domestic lifetime grosses of every preceding installment in the franchise, outperforming previous domestic tallies like Afterlife, which finished its US box office run at $60.12 million.

Helmed by director Zach Cregger, the movie leans into traditional horror tropes. Austin Abrams stars as the protagonist Bryan. The official synopsis states: “The film follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.”
The cast also features Paul Walter Hauser as Carl alongside Zach Cherry as Dave. They are joined by fellow Hollywood actors Kali Reis playing Pauline and Johnno Wilson in a role that remains undisclosed.
