In Netflix’s The Last Kingdom Season 5, the Saxon invasion has not only brought death and destruction to England but also a reign of terror. Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) is now living in exile at the Viking court, where he seeks to carve out a new life for himself as well as bring about justice for his English birthright. Across the North Sea, King Alfred (David Dawson) must face down an invading Danish army led by Harald Bloodhair (Peter Franzen). Meanwhile, Queen Aethelflaed attempts to build alliances with Mercia’s other powerful lords from behind her father’s throne.

-David Dawson as King Alfred: Uhtred’s friend who later becomes the king of Wessex. He leads his people against their enemies in order to protect them from all threats both foreign and domestic.
-Peter Franzen as Harald Bloodhair: A Danish warlord who is bent on conquering England.
-Emily Cox as Brida: Uhtred’s childhood friend, accompanies him in all his journeying.
-Ito Ogunsakin as Ylva: the daughter of one of Ragnar’s men and a skilled healer to boot. She has an uncanny ability to predict the future and is a good friend to Uhtred.
-Simon Kunz as Eadric: The Lord of Bebbanburg who was once a loyal vassal to King Alfred but later betrays him after being bribed by Hasten. He quickly regrets his decision though when he realises that his own people are being slaughtered.

– Ed Speelers as Uhtred Ragnarson: A Saxon of royal blood who had to grow up with the Danes after his father was killed in battle. His ship is attacked by Vikings which leads him on a path of vengeance against King Eadric, one that will lead him back home and into the arms of his childhood friend, Brida.

This Netflix original is based on Bernard Cornwell’s novels and stars Alexander Dreymon as Uhtred Ragnarson, an Anglo-Saxon who was raised by Danes after they killed his father.
