Plot details
The character is in a mental institution; she has been there for five years. She gets released and reunites with her family, who is all played by Bill Hader, with prosthetics that make them look like cows (except Molly Shannon). The show doesn’t address the fact that Molly had an affair with her boss, which Molly doesn’t want to talk about.
Molly is shown in a bedroom talking on the phone and then looking at herself in the mirror and making her face look like a sad clown. Molly Shannon, in the other two season, Molly is shown with her back to the audience talking on another phone while sitting at a table near an open window overlooking New York City.
The show does not address Molly Shannon’s affairs from season one but returns with Molly still swinging back and forth between hiding out as best she can and seizing every opportunity for an adventure. Molly Shannon in the other two season is a fun show to watch, and Molly’s antics are always entertaining, but it loses some of its appeals as she continues her zany lifestyle.
Synopsis:
The second season begins with Molly trying to get away from her past after being seen by Doug (Bobby Moynihan) during an argument at a restaurant. Molly ends up at the home of her former boss, Suzanne (Stephanie March), who she’s not seen since quitting years ago. Molly hides from Doug in a closet, and when he leaves, Molly goes to bed with Suzanne’s husband because it “felt right.”
