England captain Joe Root seems to be in a fix about whom to select in terms of James Anderson and Stuart Broad for the third test against India.
The reason why it is becoming difficult for the captain to make a choice is that, both of them are the jewels for England as they are considered to be the top two Test wicket takers for the team. It has been seven times in the last two years, where they have played together.
As per the statement from the English captain who has rightly said that it is going to be difficult for him as a captain to select just one.
Currently, the series is leveled at 1-1 and the third test starts on Wednesday.
Anderson who is 38 has given his opinion where he personally though that it was the last time for him and Broad, 34 to have played together. However, his statement was pulled down by the captain. The captain went to say that they have proven their worth in the last two years and that’s the reason why they are still in the team together with the top three bowlers in the world.
Root further said that the duo are getting better and polished with age. He is also of the view that they will be getting loads of instances to play together in near future.
It is expected that pace bowler namely Jofra Archer seems to be returning for English as he is fit and healthy after undergoing an injury in the elbow which necessitated him to undergo a cortisone injection in the elbow. Earlier, due to the same, he had to miss the second Test in Chennai where India registered win by whopping margin of 317 runs which made them to level the series.
Root also has the option to consider bringing back Zak Crawley as he has recovered from a wrist injury. There is another option in the form of Jonny Bairstow who has earlier missed the initial two tests, as he has to follow the England’s rest and rotation policy.
Things to take note of
The match is regarded to be the first of its kind, which will be played in a day-night encounter.
There have been concerns which both the captains have raised especially while starting the innings under light. Since, this the time, when the light fades and the starting one and half hours are quite tricky to say the least. Since, the whole phase when it is continuously getting darker seems to pose a challenge for the batsman. However, as the darkness spread and the play happens under flood lights, then it is an altogether different ball game. Root has rightly opined that it is the bowlers who are going to benefit during the initial phase.
So, it is the time for the bowlers to make the best use of the available opportunity and do maximum damage to the opponents. Since, seizing every single and specific opportunity will result in changing the overall scenario of the game for sure.
