Plot details:
In Season one, succession centres on Logan Roy’s attempt to groom his eldest son Kendall for the family business. When he starts to show an interest in politics and philanthropy instead, it becomes clear that succession is not a straightforward process of handing over power from father to son or even necessarily within just one generation.
The succession of the Roy succession is not without its bumps and hurdles.
In Season two we watch as succession moves from generation to generation, with different members of the succession competing for power. We see Kendall’s son-in-law Greg with a desire to run Roy succession, and after much conflict, he finally moves up from CEO to president in Season four.
For example, in succession season three, we see how Kendall’s daughter is trying to take over her father’s company from him and outsmarting everyone that has plans for succession.
Review:
Kendall Roy, played by Brian Cox, owns and runs the successful company with his son Connor as president for decades until he decides to retire in succession season two. In succession season three, we see how Kendall’s daughter Kendall Logan, played by Anna Chancellor is trying to take over her father’s company from him and outsmarting everyone that has succession plans for the business.
Kendall Logan doesn’t want to leave it all in Connor’s hands, so she takes on a role as both vice president of operations and head of the marketing team. This means she spends less time with Connor, who is growing resentful of his father and sister.
Kendall Logan starts to become more ruthless with succession plans for her company as she realizes that the family business may not be able to survive in this changing economy. This changes Kendall’s relationship with her son even further and he decides to leave home in succession season three because he feels that he has to take on the responsibility for succession.
Kendall Logan’s business is in constant turmoil as she struggles with succession plans and deals with her family going through financial difficulties. Kendall, Connor, and Rachel are all exhausted from their different duties at the company so it was only a matter of time before they would clash over succession season three.
Kendall’s relationship with Connor has become more strained because of the pressure he feels from being both son and heir, while Rachel still refuses to take on any responsibility at all in succession season three. Meanwhile, when Kendall finds out that her family is going through financial difficulties she realizes succession may not be the best option for them.
